Back to Hydrologic Cycle (ELL)

Order the Water Cycle

Put key water cycle steps in order. Focus on how water moves, changes, and collects.

Arrange the steps

Start with water, then move it up (evaporation), cool it (condensation), drop it (precipitation), move it on land (runoff), soak it in (infiltration), and store it (aquifer) before the cycle repeats.

Reading

Water moves, changes, and collects on Earth. Warmth causes evaporation. Cooling turns gas to liquid as condensation. It falls as precipitation. Some flows as runoff. Some soaks in (infiltration) to the ground and aquifers. The hydrologic cycle repeats again and again.

Tip: Use the verbs move, change, collect to decide what happens earlier vs. later.
