Order the Spectrum

Start with the longest wavelength (Radio Waves) and finish with the shortest, most energetic waves (Gamma Rays).

Reading

The spectrum moves from long waves with low energy to short waves with high energy. Radio Waves travel far and carry music and voice. Microwaves help phones talk to towers and heat food. Infrared Waves carry heat, and Visible Light is the tiny band we see. Ultraviolet (UV) comes from the sun and can cause sunburn. X-rays pass through soft tissue to show bones, and Gamma Rays carry the most energy of all.

Tip: Think "longer = safer, shorter = stronger."

1.Gamma Rays
2.Infrared Waves
3.Visible Light
4.Ultraviolet (UV)
5.Microwaves
6.Radio Waves
7.X-rays
