Back to Eclipses, Tides, & Phases of the Moon (ELL)

Order the Moon Cycle

Put the Moon phase cycle in order. The cycle repeats over and over.

Beginner ELL Core Idea

  • The Moon moves around Earth.
  • Gravity pulls the Moon and water.
  • Moon shapes change in a cycle.

Arrange the phases

Start with a New Moon you cannot see, move to a Waxing Moon that grows, then a Full Moon, then a Waning Moon that shrinks.

Reading

The Moon orbits Earth. We see different shapes because sunlight hits the Moon from new angles. A New Moon is dark. A Waxing Moon grows. A Full Moon looks like a full circle. A Waning Moon shrinks. The cycle is cyclical and repeats.

Tip: New Moon -> Waxing -> Full Moon -> Waning -> repeat.

1.Waxing
2.Waning
3.New Moon
4.Full Moon
